We are committed to enhancing and improving the lives of people living with life-limiting illnesses. Central to our mission is providing long-term emotional and spiritual support and general well-being for both our patients and their loved ones.
Each petal in our logo motif represents our five core values: Dignity | Compassion | Support | Community | Quality of Life
In 1996, Tim Shea, a young Irish lawyer working in the Cayman Islands, was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Tim’s wish was to leave hospital and return home, to spend his final days surrounded by friends and family. Together with support from the local community, his friends made this wish a reality and following Tim’s death Cayman, HospiceCare (as it was first known) was born.
Over the years, the organisation has grown significantly and in November 2018, it rebranded with a new look and name. Following an extraordinary community fundraising effort, spearheaded by local runner Derek Haines, we moved into Jasmine Villa, a 6,000 sq ft purpose-built, integrated in-patient unit and administration facility. Derek raised $1.3 million by running six marathons worldwide at the age of 66. We, together with our patients and their families, are forever grateful to Derek and to all of those who made Jasmine Villa possible.
Jasmine Villa was officially opened by HRH The Duchess of Cornwall in March 2019 as part of her visit to the Cayman Islands.
We are proud of our history, our growth and our commitment to our community, and are dedicated to providing compassionate care available to those in need.
